Women Still Rule the Coyote Ugly Saloon, 25 Years Later for The New York Times

I fell in love with the movie “Coyote Ugly” when I was a kid. It was about women taking charge of their lives and owning their sexualities. (Even though when I saw it the first time, I may not have known that last part.) When I moved to New York and realized that I could actually go to that bar, I was amazed by the atmosphere. It’s incredibly female-friendly and female-oriented, which isn’t what people think at first when they see girls dancing on a bar. So when the 25th anniversary of the original New York location came around, I knew I had to tell the bar’s story. It was published today in the Styles section of The New York Times. If you’re a fan of the bar and/or movie, give it a read. And if you have preconceived notions, give it a read as well! It might change your mind.
