If you’ve been following, I decided to do 10 days of foundation testing with 10 samples I got from Sephora. Read my introduction post to get all the details on what I’ll be trying and check out the previous posts: Fenty, Sephora Collection, Dior, Laura Mercier, bareMinerals, NARS, Make Up For Ever and Becca.
Ten Days of Foundation is almost over! For day nine, I tried the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Foundation ($40). Wow that’s a mouthful.
Urban Decay is another one of those brands with a cult-like following. They’re a little more edgy than a lot of brands and I kind of lump them in with Kat Von D in my head, I don’t know why. I’ve tried their eyeshadow primer and the All Nighter setting spray which I love, but I haven’t actually tried their makeup so I was pretty excited for this.
There’s only 26 shades on Sephora’s website, but I think they do a good job of getting a diverse range in those 26 shades.
My initial thoughts as I was applying the foundation, was that this was honestly underwhelming. It didn’t look bad, but it also didn’t stack up to some of the other foundations I tried in this experiment. Once it set, I realized it’s really pretty on. It provides about medium coverage and dries to a demi-matte finish, which is actually perfect for my dry skin. And it lasted all day, without touchups needed. Pretty as it is, though, it reminds me way too much of my Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation which is only $6. I think the Naked Skin is nicer, but not $34 nicer.
Check back tomorrow for the last day, where I test out the Marc Jacobs Shameless Youthful-Look Foundation.
